LIGHTING AT RANGIORA
REPOLING OF STREETS INTENDED ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT'S REPORT It is the intention of the electrical department of the Rangiora Borough Council to repole the East belt line between High street and the Northbrook road, and along the Northbrook road to Victoria street. This advice was contained in a report submitted by the electrical engineer (Mr W. W. Matthews) to the monthly meeting of the council. "Ample provision will be made for loading conditions, and the reconstructed line will add to the appearance of the street." said the engineer. "There are not sufficient poles on hand to complete the repoling of the remaining portion of the belt north of High street," he added. During the month 19 metres were tested, 23 installed, and four removed. Seven new connexions, six extensions, and two alterations were inspected, tested, and connected, increasing the total connected load by 75.555. "The units recorded for the month increased by 17,880, equal to a percentage increase of 20.8," the engineer said. "The maximum demand increased by 12.7 per cent, and the load factor improved to the extent of 8.45 per cent. Compared with August of 1933, the output has increased by 2.4 times. There is no easing of the average monthly increase. The increase for the quarter ending September will be quite substantial."
