INCREASE IN NUMBER OF VOTERS
MARLBOROUGH ELECTORAL ROLL IXHK PRESS Special Service.! BLENHEIM, September 27. . The closing of the supplementary roll for the Marlborough electorate indicates that since last election theie has been an increase of 1484 voters, but this is partly accounted for by the fact that the boundaries of the electoral district were altered last year to incorporate the Rai Valley, Canvastown, Deep Creek, and Pelorus areas, which were included in Nelson before. The recommencement of work on the South Island Main Trunk railway has also had an important bearing on the question, for a great many of the men employed on the line arc located nortn of the Conway river, which forms the electoral boundary. , . . The supplementary • roll contained 1513 names, which brings the total number of electors in Maflborough to 12 520. Sinca the closing of the general roll, however. 273 names have been taken off because of transfeis. deaths, and removals by request, and actually the number eligible to vole in this district will be 12.247. When the last General Elccton was held the total number of electors enrolled was 11,02b.
