BOXING
GILDO BEATS AITKEN (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND. September 26. A professional light-weight boxing contest between Billy Aitken, of Wellington, and Young Gildo, of Honolulu, was won by the' latter on points, at the end of 12 three-minute rounds. This was the third meeting of the pair, Aitken having won on points on the two previous occasions. The bout, which was watched by a crowd which almost filled the Town Hall, was disappointing in many respects. Gildo did most of the attacking; but his continual boring-in tactics detracted from the spectacular nature of the righting. He appeared to realise that his only hope was at in-fight-ing, and with head down he charged into his opponent, and registered his points with taps to the body and either side of the head.
