EXPORT TO SOUTH AMERICA

POTATO CARGO FILLING FURTHER SHIPMENT IP NEEDED "The shipment is filling well," replied Mr F. R. Picot, director of the Internal Marketing Department, to a question by "The Press" last evening on the prospects for the completion of the proposed cargo of 3000 tons of Red Dakota potatoes to be shipped by the Port Melbourne to Montevideo. Merchants were giving every assistance fo fill the quota, Mr Picot •said. Whether another shipment, would follow was dependent on the quantity of potatoes offering. "Another shipment will be made if it is required," he said. "Has the export been effective in stabilising the local price at £3 a ton?" Mr Picot was asked. "It has had the expected effect and the local market has firmed," he replied. "It can be said that the local price has been stabilised."
