WAR MEMORIAL WINDOW
CANTERBURY COLLEGE CEREMONY
UNVEILING BY PROFESSOR
SHELLEY TO-DAY
The war memorial window in the Canterbury University College Hall will be unveiled to-day at 11 a.m. by Professor J. Shelley, a member of the college staff before his appointment as Director of Broadcasting, who served as an officer in the Great War. An address will also be given by Mr W. R. Lascelles on behalf of students and graduates of the college who saw war service. Among the guests at the ceremony will be Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C., the Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane), Colonel P. H. Bell, Officer Commanding the Southern Command, representatives of religious denominations, the president of the Returned Soldiers' Association (Mr A. W. Mewton), the president of the Students' Association (Mr 1. O. Stace), Mr D. S. Hewitt, representing the Graduates' Association, the chairman of the College Council (Mr A. E. Flower), and members of the council.
The ceremony will begin with the sounding o'f "Reveille" by buglers of the Christchurch West High School. The chairman of the council will speak briefly in introduction. After the address by Mr Lascelles, Professor Shelley will unveil the window. A prayer and the sounding of "Last' Post" will end the ceremony.
