FROM SAMOA After a fine weather trip, the Government motor-ship Maui Pomare arrived at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon from Apia and Niue Island. On the outward trip from Wellington the vessel called at Sunday Island, where she landed stores, but was unable to land a quantity of timber. One passenger was embarked at the island.
The vessel's cargo included 7700 cases of bananas from Apia and 1800 from Niue, also 2100 sacks of kumeras and five tons of cocoa beans from Apia. The following passengers arrived by the Maui Pomare:—Mesdames D. McClymont, J. Vicars, Fraser, Barrett, Wright, Wheeler, McKenzie, Kilkenny, Misses Barrett, Stanway. Nolan, Scott, Judge J. V. Mr K. N. Kerr is now chief engineer of the motor-ship Maul Pomare, in succession to Mr J. T. M. Boyd, who has retired. Mr P. Bradley is third officer of the Maui Pomare. in place of Mr R. Campbell. ' DESSAU TO LOAD The German steamer, Dessau, was due in the stream at Lyttelton at midnight last night, and is to berth at 9 a.m. to-day to begin loading. PORT HARDY AT LONDON Advice has been received by the Port Line that the Port Hardy reached London on Wednesday morning. She left Wellington on August 12 for London, via Panama.
