JOCKEY INJURED
* ' FRACTURE OF SKULL IN FALL TIMARU. September 22. L. J. Ellis, the well-known jockey, was injured when his mount fell at the Geraldine races to-day. An X-ray< to-night revealed that he was suffering from a fracture of the skull and severe scalp injuries, ELDERLY WOMAN INJURED Head injuries were suffered- by Mrs Emma Taylor, an elderly woman, of 309 Armagh street, in a collision between- a. motor-car and a tram at the corner of Madras and Wordsworth streets about 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon. She was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hbspital, and her condition was reported last night to be not serious.
