FOREIGN COMBATANTS TO WITHDRAW
, ■ . DECISION OF SPANISH REPUBLICANS (Received September 22, 8.30 p.m.) GENEVA, September. 21. The Spanish Republic Prime Minister (Senor Juan Negrin) to-day announced that the Republicans had decided to order the immediate withdrawal of all non-Spanish combatants fighting for the Government. The decision will be applicable without distinction of nationality, and will include those who have assumed Spanish nationality since the outbreak of the war. Senor Negrin asked for the immediate appointment by the League of an international commission to supervise the withdrawal. COUNTER-OFFENSIVE BY REPUBLICANS (Received September 22, 8.30 p.m.) BARCELONA, September 22. The Republican offensive, undertaken north-west of Valencia .to divert the attention of the Nationalists from the Ebro, has resulted in the taking of 19 hills and several villages. The Nationalists claim that they have advanced at Gandesa, capturing 500 prisoners.
