CALEDONIAN SOCIETY

ANNUAL COMPETITIONS BEGUN

The annual competitions of the Cam terbury Caledonian Society were begun last evening in the Caledonian Hall, when a/ large attendance watched exhibitions of dancing by children of varying age. Results were:— Highland Fling, 1938 pupils—Helen Cameron 1, Lorna Sanders 2. Seann Triubhais. 1938 pupils—Joan Knight 1, Rita, Stanley 2. Highland Fling, open and under 17 years—Flora Fitt 1. Irene Rees 2, Joan Russell 3. Seann Triubhais (children under 14 not eligible for 1938 class)— Agnes Russell 1, Joy Kerr 2. Swords, open and under 17 years— Irene Rees 1, Flora Fitt 2. The judge was Mrs L. H. Petrie and the accompanying pipers were members of the society’s pipe band. The championships in the dancing and the piping will be decided this evening.
