The death occurred, on September 13 at Brisbane, at the age of 77. of one of the most interesting figures in Australian shipping circles, Captain Alexander Junner. P Captain Junner spent 40 years with Howard Smith and Company. Ltd., and also with the Queensland Government vessels. He was reputed to have saved a record number of lives in sea disasters, and in the latter part of the last century he was awarded the Bronze Medal of the Royal Humane Society, and the Gold Medal of the Shipwreck Relief Society. Captain Junner was a mate at the age of 19 and a master at 24. NARBADA RETURNING The Union Company’s chartered steamer Narbada, which discharged cargo from Calcutta at Lyttelton last week, is to return to this port on Sunday to take in coal. ___
