OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, September 22. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by. the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Light to moderate winds, northeasterly along the coast, northwesterly inland. Weather fair to fine. Mild day bnt cool night temperatures. Seas slight.. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light to moderate and variable winds with northerlies to northwesterlies predominating. Weather for the moat part fair, but scattered rains developing in the southern areas. T.mperatures mild. Seas alight to moderate. DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is:— Weather for the most part fair, but isolated rains probable in . the Auckland Province and In the far south-west and south. Cool night with some frosts, but milder tomorrow. Presirare is very uniform and rather high over New Zealand. Conditions are slightly disturbed in the north, however, and there has been a fall of pressure over southeastern Australis. Winds—Light and variable at first. Easterlies prevailing in the Auckland Province and later northerlies elsewhere. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Slight generally, but rising somewhat north of East Cape and in the far south. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate winds, south-easterlies predominating in the northern portion and north-westerlies in the southern. Seas slight to moderate, but rising in the southern portion. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Yesterday was fine but cloudy in Christchurch. There was an easterly wind. The maximum temperature during the day was 54.5 degrees. A frost of 4.6 degrees was recorded in the morning. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky waa cloudy and there was a strong easterly wind. The temperature was 48 degrees. IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—Dull but fine weather, with a light'and variable wind, ruled during the day. The maximum temperature was 80 degrees,. The barometer waa fairly steady, the reading at 5 p.m, being 30.12. inches. . Wellington—The weather was fine and mild. The wind was variable in the' morning, • but in the afternoon there was a light' southerly breeze. The minimum temperature on Wednesday night was 45.7 degrees. Thp maximum yesterday was 56.9 degrees. At .3 p.m. the temperature was 55.6 degrees, and the barometer 30.139 inches a{ 5 p.m. Dunedin—The weather yesterday was fine with bright sunshine and scattered clouds. The temperature was cold overnight, and remained cool m the shade throughout the day, the maximum being 56 degrees. There was a light north-east breeze, and Hie barometer" was steady at 30.15 inches.
