WAITAKI HIGH SCHOOL PARTY RETURNS

TRIP KEENLY APPRECIATED

Back from an educational tour of Canada, a party of 19 pupils from Waitaki Boys’ High School passed through, Christchurch yesterday morning on their return to Oamaru. In the charge of Mr P. W. Hargreaves, a master, the boys left New Zealand in July and returned by the Niagara at the beginning of the week,

Tlie tour was arranged at the invitation of Major F. Ney, secretary of the National Council of Education of Canada and organiser of the Overseas Education League, and the boys were the guests of the Canadian Council of Education. They were taken on a tour of British Columbia with 150 Canadian and English public school boys, and went into camp at Banff, in the Canadian Rockies.

A comprehensive programme had been arranged, said Mr Hargreaves, and the boys had been, given an excellent insight into the chief Canadian industries, such as mining, lumbering.

fishing, and fruitgrowing. The organisation had been wonderful, and the whole tom: keenly appreciated by the boys. Old boys of the school welcomed the party when it arrived back in Auckland,- and others greeted it at Palmerston North, Wellington, and Christchurch.
