GOAL-SHOOTING CONTEST

BEAU IDEAL CUP, RESULTS

(By SHOOT.) St, Mary’s and Digby’s, winner and runner-up respectively in the senior competition, hold the same positions in the Beau Ideal Cup competition. St. Mary’s has won the cup with an average of 20 goals a match, and Digby’s has an average of just over 17 goals. The competition is open to all teams, both junior and senior, and the cup is awarded to the team aggregating, the highest number of goals for the season. This year, because of wet weather, the time of some of the junior matches has had to be curtailed; also, some teams have played more matches than others so in order to equalise the teams’ chances for the Beau Ideal Cup, the goal totals have been worked out on an average of goals scored, games, and time played. By scoring 41 goals in a single match, St. Mary's broke the shooting record for Canterbury. Digby’s equalled its own record of last year with 38 goals. The averages of the first eight teams are as follows;

St. Mary’s (seniors) • .. 20 Digby’s A (seniors) .. 17 St. Mary’s B (third grade) .. 16 Sacred Heart A (second grade) 15
