LONDON, September 20. It is officially announced from Downing Street that Mr Chamber- • lain will meet Herr Hitler at Godes--1 berg on-Thursday at 3 pm.
Herr Hitler, who is?-at present at Munich, accompanied, by .the German Foreign Minister (Herr von Ribbentrop) and a large staff, is expected at' Cologne in the morning, where the • Fuhrer will await' Mr Chamberlain and accompany him to Godesberg, which is decorated with swastika flags and Union Jacks. The programme for Mr Chamberlain’s -visit will include a boat trip on the Rhine, on which it is proposed to hold the conversations to ensure' secrecy. Police boats are now patrolling the river. A detachment of the Gestapo
(German Secret Police) has arrived • from Berlin to guard Herr Hitler’s hotel. ’ The four Ministers who have been in close'consultation throughout the period of the recem acute tension— Mr Chamberlain, Lord Halifax, Sir John Simon, and Sir Samuel Hoare —met fpr two hours and a half yesterday, states a British Official Wireless message. Pending receipt of Czechoslovakia’s; reply,. official quarters here • decline' to disclose the terms of the British, and French proposals or to confirm or deny unauthorised reports of the details of the policy-now under examination in Prague. Lord Halifax had an audience with the King and reported the lat- . est developments in the international situation. Lord Halifax later received Mr Eden at the Foreign Office. Other callers were Lord Runciman and the French Ambassador (M. Charles Corbin). .The Associated Press states that official circles in London confirm reSrts that the Dominions have been formed of the main outline of the British-French plan.

Queen Wilhelmina, speaking from the Throne at the opening of Parliament, expressed satisfaction with the friendliness of Holland’s international relations.
She emphasised the indispensability of continuing the strengthening of the country’s military efficiency ■t home and abroad. For this bigger sacrifices were necessary, entailing properly adjusted taxation and tariffs.
