In continuation o£ his endeavours to reach a peaceful solution of the European crisis, the British Prime Minister, Mr Chamberlain, will meet Herr Hitler at Godesberg at 3 p.m. to-day. Herr Hitler has already left Munich for Godesberg, and it is reported that Mr Chamberlain will travel by air to Germany.
The Czech Cabinet had a prolonged session during which the British and French proposals were discussed. The details of these proposals are still unannounced, and no official statement has been made in Prague as to the outcome of the Cabinet meeting. An unconfirmed report from Paris, however, states that the plan has been unconditionally accepted.
In an effort to ensure that the Hungarian minority in Czechoslovakia should receive privileges no less than those given to the Sudetens, the Hungarian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister conferred with Herr Hitler and Herr yori Ribbentrop. The Polish minority has also seized the occasion to put forward demands for the return of Teschen from Czechoslovakia.
In the meantime the American press continues to attack the action of Britain and France as a “betrayal of Czechoslovakia.”- It is alleged that both countries have lost prestige and are fast becoming second-rate Powers.
