WEDNESDAY (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) ATTEMPTED THEFT Joseph Arnold Harrison and Henry Goodfellow Farrelly, each of whom pleaded guilty to a charge of , attempting to steal six gallons of petrol, the property of Ronald Edgar Gladmg, were each fined £5, in default 30 days’ imprisonment. . Detective-Sergeant J. Bickerdike said that the complainant was sitting in his car, which was parked, when he heard a noise at the back of it. When he investigated, the petrol tank cap was missing and he recovered it from the two accused. The two, who had previous convictions, when they had also acted together, had admitted trying to steal petrol. They stated that petrol had been stolen from their own car. . “It was a despicable thing to do, at best,” said the Magistrate, who warned the accused that with the list they were building up they would be in serious trouble the next time they were caught. UNLICENSED RADIO SETS
The following penalties were imposed, with orders for costs in each case, on charges of being in possession of unlicensed radio sets; — ' Ivy Billens 12s 6d, Percy S. Franklyn 15s, Francis Louis Gibson ss, Arthur Gossett ss, Noel Benjamin Garden ss, Thomas Arthur Johnston ss, James Albert McMillan 10s, Robert Henry Middleton 12s 6d. Doris Outram 6s 3d, Ethel Price 20s. Neil Robert Shepherd 20s, Charles Edward Stratford 10s, Frederick Waters 255.
