SCHOOL DENTAL CLINICS

EXTENSION DESIRED BY COMMITTEES

CONFERENCE CONTINUED

Remits urging the extension of the dental clinic system, with special attention to country districts, were considered by the conference of the Dominion Federation' of School Committees’ Associations yesterday. The conference decided to congratulate the Minister for Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) on the work already done, and the hope was expressed that the dental services • ; would be still further developed. Th 6 conference discussed the wages of school’ caretakers. Mr F. C; Pace (Auckland) said that a uniform rate of payment was not possible, as the amount of work required of a caretaker varied from school to school. It was resolved, “That the Minister for Education be asked to release as soon as possible the scale of payment for school caretakers, and that if it involves any increase in . expenditure, capitation should be raised accordingly.” The business of the conference will ehd this morning. Yesterday afternoon the delegates were taken for a drive along the Summit road, and were entertained to afternoon tea at “The Sign of the Takahe.”
