PORT ' ALMA CLEARS MONTEVIDEO

Advice has been received by the Port Line that its motor-ship Port Alma cleared Montevideo last Friday. She left Lyttelton on August 30 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Cape Horn and Montevideo.

TO LOAD POTATOES

The Port Line steamer Port Melbourne is due here to-morrow from Port Pirle. On Tuesday she will commence loading 3000 tons of potatoes for Montevideo.

DELAYS IN HANDLING CARGO

CONFERENCE BETWEEN UNION AND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

It is probable that a conference will be arranged between representatives of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce and of the Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Union to discuss the loading and unloading of cargo. It was recently stated by the chamber that there were delays in the work, and the matter was referred to the union, with a request for suggestions. The union has now replied, stating that it is prepared to discuss the matter. The letter will be brought before the council of the Chamber of Commerce early next month, when it is probable that representatives will be appointed.

FISCUS FOR LYTTELTON

With a cargo of phosphate, the Fiscus, which left Nauru Island, on September 14. is due at Lyttelton on Sunday. She will later go to Dunedin.

THE KOZAN MARU

The Kozan Maru Is due at Lyttelton on Tuesday from-Dunedin to discharge cargo from Japan and to load. She Is to sail on Wednesday for Wellington.

REMUERA REPORTS

The Remuera, en route from London for Wellington. and Auckland, has reported that she expects to arrive at Wellington at 7 a.m. on Thursday next.
