WELLINGTON, September 21.
The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued .at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows;
Light to moderate and variable winds, with southerlies gradually predominating, and' later freshening somewhat. Weather mainly fair to cloudy, but with isolated showers or drizzling rain. Temperatures cool. Seas slight to moderate.
WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is;—
Light to moderate winds. Variable in direction, with southerlies predominating. Scattered rains at first, but improving. Temperatures mild. Seas moderate.
DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion Is: —
Mainly fair to cloudy, but scattered local rains probable, especially in the western and central districts. Temperatures cool to moderate. Pressure rather high over New Zealand, bat a shallow depression is located west of the North Island. An anti-cyclone covers south-eastern Australia.
Winds: Light to moderate and variable, southerlies gradually predominating about and south of Cook Strait, and later freshening somewhat. Seas (New Zealand wafers): Slight to moderate.
Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate westerly to southerly winds prevailing. Seas slight to moderate, but increasing somewhat.
CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Yesterday was fine in Christchurch, but the sky remained overcast until the afternoon, when the sun broke through. There was a light easterly wind. The maximum temperature during the day was 55.2 degrees.
At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and there was a moderate'easterly wind. The temperature was 46 degrees and tbe barometer, falling slowly, at 30.19 inches.

IN OTHER PLACES Auckland— Yesterday was fine and sunny, with the exception of a few showers in the morning. The wind was light from the south. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees. The barometer was steady, with the reading at 5 p.m. 30.14 inches. Wellington—The weather was cloudy and mild with a light Southerly breeze yesterday. The minimum temperature on Tuesday night was 50 degrees and the maximum yesterday 60 degrees. At 3 p.m. the temperature was 53.3 degrees and the barometer 30.062 inches.
Dunedin—There was bright sunshine early yesterday morning, but later passing clouds obscured the sun from time to time. There was a light breeze from the north-east and the temperature was cool, the maximum for the day being 55 degrees. The barometer rose sharply to 30.15 inches.
