MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
PALMA CUP COMPETITION LOCAL CLUB IN SECOND PLACE —— The results of the Palma Cup competition, conducted annually by the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association, have been announced. Thirty-seven teams took part, the conditions being 20 shots a man, with a possible total of 200, and a maximum team total of 1000 points. The competition resulted In a tie between West End (Timaru), tne winning team of last year, and Cashmere (Christchurch), with a total of 984 points each. The tie was:decided by the use of the .25 gauge and West End was declared the winner with 987 points, Cashmere being in second place with 986 points. The metric targets were used throughout. Following is the result:— West End (Timaru) 987, Cashmere (Christchurch) 986, Featherston South 974, Municipal (Wellington) -973, Harbour Board (Wellington) 972, United (Christchurch) 972, Marist (Christchurch) 970, Pleasant Point 970, "Evening Post" (Wellington) 970, Westport 969, Masterton 969, Brooklyn 967, Waiau (Southland) 966, Timaru 966, WUlowbridge 965, Wellington South 965, Sydenham No. 1 965, Marist No. 1 965, New Plymouth 963. Aotea (Wellington) 963, Hastings 962, Hutt (Wellington) 960. Napier 960, Taumaruhui 957. Public Service (Wellington) 954, Cromwell Railways 953, Longburn 952, Otaki 940, Sydenham No. 2 940, Inangahua 933, Petone. Working Men's Club 931, Hororata 924.
