Armstrong, yesterday morning by a deputation from the New Zealand Workers' Union, the Federar tion of Labour, and the Unemployed Workers' Movement ■ The Minister announced after the deputation had retired that the men had settled their dispute, with the department, but some of the men did not wish to carry on With the heavy work required, as they were not fit for it. It was not the policy of the department to insist on unfit men being employed in navvying occupations, and therefore those whose physical condition was not up to the requirements of the heavy work on the road would be placed on sustenance until more suitable work could be found- for them.
