Serious head injuries were suffered by Robert Mintoft, of Hastings, when two cars collided at the intersection of Staubyn street and Willowpark road, about 10.30 last night. He was admitted to the Memorial Hospital, A report at mid-day stated that his condition was very serious. Mintoft was a passenger in a car driven by J. Heenan, of Hastings, who escaped without injury. The driver of the other vehicle, William George Adams, of Hastings, was also unhurt. In • tragic accident yesterday at Tauranga, Joan Elizabeth Beazley, aged seven years, was killed. She was a daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Beazley, Briarley road. The child was standing with a bicycle talking to another girl at a corner in Briarley road, when a lorry, backing out from a crossing, ran over the child and the bicycle.
