if "I have no doubt that you are a [dangerous man arid you -have to be (taught a lesson! You will be sentenced ito 14 days' imprisonment," said Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court after hearing the evidence on a cnarge of' assault against Julius Hansen The accused pleaded not guilty 'to assaulting Hugh Stewart Cameron. JThe police withdrew a similar information against Ruby Hansen, the wife of theaccused. Hansen objected to entering the dock and had to be placed there byVpolice officers., ,• '■ Hugh Cameron, a carpenter, : stated that he called' at Hansen's whare on August 18 about a dog. Hansen came out of the whare with an axe in his hands and threatened the witness. Hansen, made several passes at him w,ith the axe. While he was putting the harness on a horse Hansen set down the axe near the Mouse and Cameron secured . it. When the accused saw his action he dived between Cameron's legs to retrieve the axe. , The witness grabbed Hansen by the arms, but he,was thrust against the wall of the whare and a dog was set on him. , The dog bit him severely twice and tore on most of the leg of his trousers. Responding to a call from her. husband, Mrs Hansen took'a bottle and hit the witness over the head. Hansen struck him on the eye. It was while he was dazed from the Wow en the head that the two got back into toe whare and lecked'themselves in. . '
