BALL AT CHEVIOT
BACHELORS AND SPINSTERS ENTERTAIN
The bachelors and spinsters of the Cheviot district entertained benedicts at a most enjoyable ball held in the Town Hall. It was the ' first b.-.1l of its kind held' in the district for many years, and proved' an outstanding successMr C. Whitehead, chairman of the committee, welcomed' the guests . and thanked those who had given prizes. The hall was effectively decorated with weeping willows, balloons, and spring flowers.
Music was supplied by Jack Maybury's band (Christchurch), extras being- piayed by Mr H. Fomison, Miss G. Fitzgibbon, and Messrs R. Burnett and R. Craig. A lucky spot waltz for benedicts was-won by Mr and Mrs R. Hill. Other novelty dances • were won by Miss Iyy McKnight and Mr C. Hbneybone, Miss Marjorie. Warren and .Mr B. Martin, Mr D. Scott and partner. The masters of ceremonies were Messrs C. Honeybone and T. E. Crossen. The guests included Mesdames E. Wheeler (Parnassus), T. E. Elliott, W. M. Elliott, R. Harneiss, L. Burnett, A.
