CRICKET
HARMONIC SOCIETY CLUB
The eighth annual meeting of the Harmonic Society Cricket Club was held on Thursday evening. Mr W. H. Down presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report showed that the club had had another successful year, and the statement of accounts disclosed a small credit balance. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr H. F. Herbert; president, Mr Victor C. Peters; vice-presidents, Mesdames Cyril Stringer, T. Cook, G. J. Smith, and W. Machin, Miss C. Atkinson, Dr. F A'Court, and Messrs E. R. Cayigll, E. J. Johnston. L. D. Richards, M. A. Richards, and the Rev. L. A. North; delegate to Suburban Cricket Association, Mr W. H. Down; secretary, Mr D. J. White; treasurer, Mr H. Queree; club captain, Mr Colin Richards; team captain, Mr W. H. Down; selectors, Messrs C. Richards, W. H. Down, and F. Heywood. It was decided to open the season with a practice match at St. James' Park on Saturday, October 1. It was decided to place on record the club's appreciation of the excellent services of the retiring team captain, Mr T. Cook, who will not be available this season because of injuries received in an accident.
