The Ranfurly Shield match between Ashburton, and Southland has been set down definitely for September 24 at Invercargill, according to confirmation received from the Southland Rugby Union by the Ashburton Rugby UtiioKyyesterday. "-*- * Early in the season Southland accepted this date for the challenge match, and the date was accepted la'ter by Otago, when that province won/the shield. Since Southland recovered the trophy, it was necessary to confirm the early arrangement. ■'.'■''

SCHOOLBOYS' TEAM RETURNS
SUCCESSFUL TOURi IN AUSTRALIA
{PRESS ASSOCII.TXOX TILXGRAM.) WELLINGTON, September 16. The New Zealand schoolboy Association football team which has been touring Australia returned by the Maunganui to-day. The manager (Mr J- Y. Walls) said in an interview that the tour was most successful in every way. The boys had behaved splendidly and had been repeatedly complimented by the parents of the boys with whom they were billeted. He felt sure the educational value of the tour would be considerable, apart altogether from useful experience of the game. The matches had rail been most enjoyable and were played in an excellent spirit. There were no casualties, and the boy who contracted measles on the way to Australia had recovered without the infection spreading. Every opportunity had been taken to see as much as possible of the country. The boys were taken over the Melbourne Tramway Board's depot, a big steel works in Newcastle, and down a coalmine at Cessnock, where they also visited the Lindeman vineyards. ,
