A POLITICAL DIARY

TO TBB BBITOB OF THB PBBBS. Sir, September 14, 1938. Isn’t it awful? You know, the association of Labour with Socialism. Dear me—how could they? And that highminded Nationalist Party! Its unscorched virtues are actually prompting it to expose the true facts about Labour rule in a ducky advertisement called “The Political Duster.” Brave fellows! Of course, I have heard that Nationalism is just another name for hard-headed, mean Conservatism, but, of course, I don’t believe that —do you?

Oh dear, it isn’t safe to sleep nowadays, with Labour Governments and Socialists crawling all over the place. September 15, 1938. To-day, out of sheer curiosity, I stopped a man in the street and asked if he was* a Socialist. He replied in the affirmative. Then I asked whom he was going to vote for at election time. He said. “Labour, and so will all decent-minded Socialists.” I attempted to argue with the beast, telling him that the Nationalists were warning us against Socialism. He replied that Socialism was the hole in the pocket of capitalism—and left me. Oh, the brute! Poor Nationalists!— Yours, etc., ALBERT F. MOORE. September 15, 1938.
