ANNUAL MEETING OF CONGREGATION

ST. PAUL’S PRESBYTERIAN

CHURCH

MORE THAN £I7OO GIVEN BY MEMBERS

The seventy-fourth annual meeting of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church was held on Wednesday, the Rev. Alan C. Watson presiding over a large attendance of members. -

Mr D. G. Burns (session clerk) presented the various-reports. Messrs T. Demids and-G. M. Telfer spoke for the session and congratulated the minister and the congregation on a very successful year. Reference was made to the l.ne influence of the minister,. and Mr Watson was warmly commended for his leadership during another year, not only in the church but also in the community. The managers’■ report and balancesheet were presented by the treasurer (Mr A. O. Wilkinson), the figures showing that between £I7OO and £IBOO had -been contributed by the members,, and ;that only a slight debit balance remained to be made - up. Of this total ;£ 579 4s 3d was contributed to objects- outside the immediate working of the congregation. Mr W. Rodger, chairman of the board of management; referred to the retirement from that position of Mr George Callender because of failing health. He also • congratulated members on their;, generous giving. • Mr A. O. Wilkinson was elected to the position of co-trustee with Mr Callender of the • trust account. Miss Beck and Mrs Jennings spoke of the valuable work undertaken by the Ladies’ Association and the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union. Mr E. Dalziel (superintendent of the Sunday school). Mr H. Yates for the Bible/ class, and Miss Brunt for the missionary club, all spoke of the help received from the minister in their activities. - To fill vacancies on the board of management, the following were elected: —Messrs J. T. Anderson, H. Kennedy, W. S. Robinson, W. Roxburgh, C, B. Wright (re-elected). D. G. Mawson. ,R. McCrone, and L. Weir. Mr Watson thanked members for their loyal support during the year.
