KENNEDY’S BUSH FIRE
TO THE EDITOE OF THE FUSE. Sir,—Kindly grant me a little space publicly to thank various people who helped in regard to the fire on the Kennedy’s Bush reserve. They include Station 3ZB, the Otahuna Estate, Messrs. N. V. Smith. J. F. Scott ami sons, *j. Wading. - C.- Thornton. H. Jackson, S. Cheeseman. S. Hopewell, sod three Christ’s College boys, who so willingly came to our aid-Fire-fighting -is hard enough without scrambling at night through gorse and bracken over very steep country. This fire has long been predicted. I wonder if any -of the following public bodies and Government departments would now take protective measures: Lands and Survey Department, the Christchurch City Council, New Zealand . Forest and Bird Protection Society. Internal Affairs Department, and Department of Forestry. I have interviewed all these bodies during the last three years, but I have always been put off with mere platitudes.—Yootw etc SIGN OF THE September 14,
