SPRING SONG
(By W.F.W.)
From high up in the blue-gum tree Pure notes of joy were flung to me* A bird’s full-throated song of spring The running. sap, buds opening, The first few lambs, the broom, The crocus, daffodil in bloom. The new grass on the dew-dampga hills, The warm sun that each tight With life, and opens up to •Fresh glories to earth’s youth, tfi* spring. The cloudless sky, the calm bin* sea, ■ ■ —But silence from the blue-gunl tree, In place of that first trill I heard. Sent my thoughts flying like tM bird.
