TERRITORIAL AIR FORCE
FIRST PARADE HELD
MORE APPLICATIONS NEEDED
The first parade of the Christchurch Territorial Air Squadron was held at King Edward Barracks last night, when information concerning the establishment of the squadron and the tra'ining of its personnel was supplied by Squadron Leader E. M. F. Grundy, Squadron Leader Grundy announced that at present the squadron was not up to full strength, but recruiting was progressing exceptionally well. The full strength of the squadron would be 20 officers and 100 other ranks. At present there were about 12 officers and 45 other ranks had been accepted, while several others were still under consideration. Applications were still required, however, to bring the squadron up to full strength. When sufficient applications were received and approved it was proposed to organise a camp at Burnham for disciplinary training for eight days. The commanding officer of the squadron, Squadron Leader G. L. Stedman, also addressed the parade and spoke of the need for an efficient ground staff. Several of the vacancies in the squadron, he said, were for positions in the ground organisation.
