REBEL BOMBS ON EBRO FRONT
POOR MARKSMANSHIP ALLEGED FEW LOYALIST BRIDGES DAMAGED DISCONTENT REPORTED AMONG FRANCO’S TROOPS l C NIT ED PBESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT’.}. (Received September 13. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON. September 13. The Barcelona correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph,” says that during the seven weeks of the Ebro battle, rebel bombers dropped 300,000 bombs over a 30-mile valley in the hope of wrecking the Government bridges. • Loyalist officers say the average of hits damaging bridges was only one bomb from 3000. The bridges are more numerous now than in peace-time. Deserters from General Franco’s forces enlarge upon the discontent among the rebels, because they are always thrown first into the line of battle while the Italians remain in reserve, prepared to rush into action and monopolise the glory if the Spaniards pierce the lines of the Loyalists, Italian reinforcements continue to arrive. * __________
