DEFENCE FORCES OF INDIA
OFFER MADE BY HOME GOVERNMENT (Received September 13, 7.10 p.m.) LONDON, September 12. A communique announces that the Government has offered to increase the annual defence grant to India by £500,000 to £2,000,000 and to make a capital grant of £5,000,000 for the re-equipment of Indian military units. An Air Force committee of experts under Lord Chatfield will leave in October to examine the defences.
