PLANS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
TRAVEL TO NORTH ISLAND RECORD BOOKINGS EXPECTED l i Record traffic is likely on the interisland steamer express service during the approaching Christmas and New Year holiday period. Already numerous inquiries are being made by people intending to travel to the North Island and it is expected that bookings for the busy period will be filled exceptionally early. The Union Steam Ship Company's vessels will make daylight trios on three days in December and on one in January, in addition to two Sunday night sailings. The Rangatira will make dnyhght trips from Lyttelton on the arn\al of the 7.35 a.m. train from Christchurch on December ,22. 23. and 24. and again on January ’3. Passengers for the North Island on these trips should arrive at Wellington about 5.30 p.m. The two Sunday sailings will be on the night of Christmas Day. Sunday. December 25. and on the night cf January 8.
On each of the dates given for the Rangatira’s trips from Lyttelton to Wellington. there will be similar journeys made by the Wahine from Wellington to Lyttelton. The vessels will maintain the ordinary week-night sailing schedule in addition to the special services. Special additional trips will also he made by the Tamahine between. Picton and Wellington.
