THE COUNTRY QUOTA

NO CONSIDERATION BY GOVERNMENT

WELLINGTON. September 13. The Government’s intention toward the country quota was sought by Mr C. A. Wilkinson (Independent, Egmont), in an urgent question he asked the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr Wilkinson suggested that an indication of this should be given before the General Election, for country Parliamentary representation was vitally affected. “The Government,” replied Mr Savage, “has hot given any consideration whatever to the matter raised in the honourable gentleman’s question.”
