LEVEL-CROSSING ACCIDENT
THREE KILLED IN VICTORIA
CAR CATCHES FIRE AFTER COLLISION (Received September 12, 11.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, September 12.
Three adults were killed and a child was injured when a kail-car struck a motor-car at a levd-crcws-ing at Avoca, 150 miles from Melbourne to-day. The victims were Benjamin Driscoll, aged 66, a grazier, Mrs Mary Newsham, aged 50. his housekeeper, and Mrs Henry Humphrey, aged 55. The accident occurred on the main street of Avoca township. DriseolL who was driving, saw the rail-car too late. He swerved, but the rail-car. which was travelling at 30 miles an hour, hurled the car on to the cattlestop, where it caught fire. Mrs Humphrey’s daughter, aged 14, was injured.
