RELIEF WORKERS' GARDEN COMPETITION

VO THB BDITOB OJT THB PItSSS. Sir,—A few months ago it was announced that a competition was to be held in connexion with relief workers' vegetable gardens. I entered my garden for this. It duly received its fh>t inspection by the committee. I notice by the paper before me that the prizes have been awarded for this competition. I should like to know for what reason my garcien did not receive its final inspection, especially as 1 have looked forward to being a prize winner.—Yours, etc.. A DISAPPOINTED RELIEF WORKER. March 6, 1935. I The Superintendent of Reserves, Mr M. J. Barnett. who was one of the judges of the relief workers' gardens, explained yesterday that in the final judging it had been impossible to visit all the gardens entered. The first two judgings had been done by supervisors appointed for each district under the scheme and the final judging was made from the gardens in each district awarded the highest points by those supervisors. It was these gardens which were inspected finally. It was also possible that the writer of the letter was not at home when his garden was visited, if it had secured high points in the first judging.'!
