STRIKE IN HAVANA

ALL PUBLIC SERVICES DISORGANISED (Received March 10, 7 p.m.). HAVANA, March 8. The employees of the Cuban State Department have stopped work, leaving only two Government departments operating fully. As President Mendieta's administration took "vigorous steps to break the strikes gripping the nation, nearly 400,000 school teachers and students from the classrooms are leading a movement for President Mendieta's overthrow. Street car traffic has almost completely stopped, and newspaper publication has been virtually suppressed by the strikes. Newspaper employees are protesting against the Government censorship No mail is moving and no Government telegraph office is operating. Bombs exploded in Havana, damaging the courthouse and police stations.
