RETURN TO GOLD STANDARD
O ADVOCACY OF ECONOMIC CONFERENCE LONDON, March 8. An international conference on economic and monetary problems was attended by 63 representatives of England, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Canada, and the United States. Lord Crewe and Sir Austen Chamberlain presided. It recommended the leading Governments, especially France, Great Britain, and America, to consult with a view to a provisional stabilisation of exchanges on a gold basis as a preliminary to the establishment of a stable world gold standard. ,It also urged that England and America, the greatest creditor nations, should consult together and, with other Governments, enable debtors to meet their obligations in goods and services.
