THE COMMISSION OF AGRICULTURE
0 PRELIMINARY MEETINGS SOON iFrom Our Parliamentary Kcuorlcr.J WELLINGTON, March 10. The Executive Commission of Agriculture, which was established under the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Act of last session with the object of co-ordinating the work of the various produce boards, has not yet begun to function, mainly because its members have been unable even to meet. But the arrival next week from England of MiDavid Jones, the meat producers' representative on the commission, should lead to preliminpry meetings at least, and to the subsequent formation of a working policy. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) said to-day that one of the commission's first steps would be a conference with representatives of the produce boards. The results of the first election of the newlyconstituted dairy board would be known early next week, and the arrival of Mr Jones a few days later would remove the last obstacle to preliminary meetings. Mr Forbes indicated that nobody had yet been appointed to the Arbitration Court to relieve Mr Justice Frazer, vice-chairman of the commission, of his court duties. Mr Justice Frazer spent some time with the Prime Minister this morning.
