An example of the economy in travelling time which can be made by the use of an aeroplane in New Zealand is provided in a trip which will be made by some West Coast residents this week. Wishing to see the Waitaki hydro-electric works, they are chartering an aeroplane to take them across from Hokitika. In ordinary travelling the party would have to go north to Greymouth, then cast to Christchurch, and then south again—a long and arduous trip. By aeroplane the journey entails merely a short trip almost straight across the Alps.
