PICNIC About 80 children and 50 adults attended the annual picnic of Holy Trinity Sunday School, which was held at Diamond Harbour on Saturday. Sports and games were held, and an enjoyable day was spent. Bowls The Lyttelton Bowling Club held a progressive doubles competition on Saturday afternoon. The winners were: W. T. Foster (skips), and R. Fenton (leads). Golf Club Meeting There was an attendance of about 30 members at the annual meeting of the Diamond Harbour Golf Club, which was held on Saturday afternoon. Mr R. Y. Clow presided. The annual report stated that the club had a membership of 65. The programme for last season was carried out, and all matches played before the close of the season. The club was to be congratulated on the fine array of trophies which it had at its disposal. Electric lighting and heating had been installed in the pavilion. The revenue from dances and the hire of the pavilion amounted to £4 Is, and from donations £4 7s. The lower portion of the course had been burnt off, and the upper portion was already fit for play. The thanks of the club were due to the women members for catering for the inter-club matches" and for their successful efforts in raising funds for the improvement of numbers one and nine fairways. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance for the year of £6 9s, and an excess of assets over liabilities of £423. Five resignations were received and 10 new members elected. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr R. Y. Clow; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. H. Collins and F. Cartwright; captain, Mr T. Archer; committee, Messrs G. and E. Cooper, J. Gower, T. Bowring, T. A. Mahar, and J. Austad; handicappers, Messrs W. C. Cleary and Collins; secretary, Mr A. G. Sinclair; trustees, Messrs Cleary and C. Mazey. It was decided to open the season on March 23.
