BOWLS
CHAMPION OF CHAMPION RINKS SATURDAY'S (.AMKS The ehamnion of champion rinks competition of the Christchurch Bowling Centre was commenced on Saturday, United and Canterbury greens being used for the first two rounds. Conditions were excellent for play, and some good bowling was seen by the large gallery at both greens. In such contests sevens and eights are not expected, but several were secured on Saturday. The most spectacular game in the first round was possibly that between United and Spreydon. The scores were fairly level throughout, Satterthwaite burning seven heads with accurate driving. • A great surprise was. the defeat of Edgeware by Imperial. On the twelfth head the board read 18-5 in favour of Edgeware, but Imperial then took control, and won every successive end, its tally including a seven.
