ANXIAIi MEETING HELD BRANCHES' ACTIVITIES REVIEWED The annual meeting of the Marist Brothers Old Boys' and Catholic Club was held in (he club rooms last night. There was a good attendance. The various activities of the club were reviewed in the ninth annual report presented by the chairman. The many social functions held (hroughotft the year had met with marked success, stated the report. The eld boys' annual dance had been largely attended. The Drama Society had, jn the first year of its existence, staged live productions, which were all well received. The attendance at the annual Communion was one of the largest on record. The Literary find Debating Society had been successful in winning the competition between Catholic clubs in Christchurch and the open competition against teams from the Returned Soldiers' Associaton and the Workers' Educational Association. The rifle club had competed successfully in the local competitions. The Association football club had experienced one of the most successful seasons in recent years. Arrangements were being made for the formation of a harrier club. Many requests for membership had already been received and this promised to be a very successful expansion of the cmb. The club had entered into the competitions £t the Etister conference and had finished third out of the 13 competitors. Ihe club's thanks were accorded te Bishop Brodie, the Rev. Fathers P. Timoney and J. Maguire, and Bros Damien and Paladius. The statement of accounts showed ihat the club had made satisfactory financial progress during the year. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The repor'.s of the branches were received and adopted. A long discussion look place on the control of the finances of the various branches. Finally, it was decided that i he branches should control their own nnances the statement of all transactions to be submitted to the executive' each fortnight, and that no debt for i moic than £.5 should be contracted the consent of the executive. -he use of the club rooms by nonmembers w&s discussed and it was de- ; fined to allow non-members the ot the rooms, but not the use of the appointments.
