€OUNTY COUNCIL CONTROL OF BLACKBERRY ! SPECIAL TO THE TBESS. BLENHEIM, March 3. Tin monthly meeting of the Marlborough County Council was held today, Mr A. H. Nees presiding. Accounts totalling £2918 15s 2d were passed for payment. The Department of Agriculture wrote drawing attention to the necessity for a rigid campaign against blackberry and sweet briar on the county reserves and suggesting that unemployed workers . could be put on to clear the weeds. As the county election was to be held on May 8 the appointing of an outside returning officer was discussed. Mr A. C. Maclaine, county clerk, formally resigned, and Mr R. Wanden was appointed returning officer in his stead. Swimming The Convent School girls' swimming sports were held at the municipal baths this afternoon in ideal weather.
