MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Banks Peninsula Electric Power Board was held on Monday. Present: Messrs C. E Kay (chairman), J. V. Chapman, J. R. Thacker, R. O. Bradley, F. R. Davis, J. O. Coop. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr W. A. Carpenter, who had been county clerk to the Mount Herbert County Council for some years, members standing as a mark ot lespect. It was resolved that the 10 p«- cent, penally on rates should be added to all rates remaining unpaid after March 29. It was reported that interest at the rate of 5 per cent, was being paid on an amount of approximately £I4OO, being part of the sum involved in the purchase of the Akaroa borough plant. It was resolved to investigate the possibility of securing a reductiou in interest. Instructions were given to communicate with the local authorities on the Peninsula about the Power Board elections to be held in May. The engineer reported that the work during the month had included the construction of a high tension line at Takamatua and the rearranging of the low tension supply to several consumers in the locality. A supply of ironbark poles was due at Lyttclton shortly and arrangements were being made to, ship these to various bays, where they would be required. The additional connected load for the month was f) k.w. Since the recent rain the water supply to the board's reservoir at. Akaroa had been ample and no shortage was now anticipated. The financial report showed the revenue from electric supply for the last quarter to be £3087, a decrease of £45 on the corresponding quarter last year. Concessions in charges since last year and an increase to consumers in the discount allowed had been responsible for a considerable reduction in revenue. The board's general account was in credit by an amount of £2729, and in the loan account there was a credit of £216.
