The Union Steam Ship Company or New Zealand, Ltd., is calling tenders in Britain immediately fur the construction of an up-to-date vessel for the New Zealand-Fiji-Tonga-Samoa trade. The vessel is specially designed for the carriage of Island fruit, including provision for seme 30,000 cubic feet of insulated space and modern accommodation for 40 passengers. The dimensions of the vessel will be approximately 340 ft overall. 40ft beam, 27ft depth, and upper deck. Her ftross tonnage will he 3500. Propulsion will, be by twin screws, with Diesel engines, and the maximum speed will be nearly 17 knots. The vessel should be completed early in 1936.
