FEDERAL BASIC WAGE
STATE RAILWAY WORKERS BENEFIT (Received March "", 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 7. The application of the Federal basic wage to 5000 New South Wales railway employees, who previously had been covered by state awards, was granted by Judge Brockman in the Federal Arbitration Court. The judge said the extra cost would be about £24,000 a year. The awards issued yesterday and to-day covered about 20,000 employees, the total cost being £96.000.
