Maunsell, S.M., dismissed two informations against William Kenmir Bunce, of Christchurch, arising out of a collision on the Picton-Grove road, between his car and another, driven by Mr J. B. Garnhum, of Springlands. "This is simpiy a repetition of that continually occurring miracle — a collision between two stationary cars," said Mr Maunsell. He knew the road as a dangerous one requiring the maximum standard of care. "Mr Garnham and his wife and daughter say that their car was stationary; Mr Bunce and his son say that they were stationary, and the police have to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt. One must have been stationary and the other moving; but I am unable to tell which. In the circumstances I must give the defendant the benefit of the doubt," concluded the magistrate.
