The Umpires' Association wrote drawing attention to the unsatisfactory state of the pitches at Malvern Park and of tiie approaches at Brighton and Sumner. BALANCE-SHEET QUERIED EXPENSES OF ENCLISII (J.vVIE Whether the sum of £.l 3s allowed oil' one of the accounts incurred by the Canterbury Ladies' Cricket Association for the game against the English girls' team should be taken as a gift to the association or as a discount off the expenses was discussed at Iho meeting of the association last nifiht, when it was reported that the bal-ance-sheet of the game which had shown the full amount of the account had been queried by the secretary of the Dominion Council. It was decided to maintain the association's attitude that the amount was merely a gift; to the association. The balancesheet was drawn up and audited for the council to decide the share of the profits to go to the English team. It will be remembered that at a previous meeting of the council, the Wellington Association refused to supply a bal-ance-sheet of its game. Miss I. Grant, secrciary to the Canterbury Association, reported that the balance-sheet of the game had been queried by the secretary of the council, Miss E. L. Harris. Two items had been queried. One, the amount allowed for the printing of the names for the scoreboard, was Is 9d out, but this was because the bill was not to hand when the balance-sheet was drawn up. The other was an item in the advertising expenditure. The sum of £3 3s was allowed on the balancesheet, but Miss Harris had stated that she knew that only £2 had been paid.
